Using Your NDIS Plan for Home Cleaning: A Plain-English Guide

There is a lot of jargon wrapped around the NDIS, and it can make simple things sound complicated. Home cleaning is one of the simplest supports there is. If disability makes it hard to keep your home clean, cleaning support exists so that job stops weighing on you and your energy can go where you actually want it to go.

At The Old School Cleaning Co., we provide cleaning support for NDIS participants across the Gold Coast, from Coolangatta through to Nerang and up into the hinterland. We wrote this guide because we kept meeting people who had been given the runaround in acronyms when all they wanted was a straight answer. Here is the plain-English version.

What Cleaning Support Actually Means

Strip away the paperwork language and cleaning support is exactly what it sounds like. A trusted person comes to your home on a regular schedule and takes care of the household cleaning. Bathrooms, kitchens, floors, dusting, and the everyday tasks that keep a home healthy and comfortable to live in.

Within the NDIS, this kind of help generally sits under supports for everyday household tasks. The idea is straightforward. When a task around the home is difficult because of disability, support can be put in place so the home still gets looked after and you are not left struggling with it or going without.

For some of the participants we support, that means a weekly visit. For others it is fortnightly, and some prefer a deeper clean less often. There is no single right pattern. The right schedule is the one that keeps your home the way you want it, and we work that out with you rather than handing you a set package.

How the Conversation Usually Starts

In our experience, the first contact comes from one of three people. Sometimes it is the participant themselves, who has decided they want reliable help at home and wants to know what we offer. Sometimes it is a family member, calling on behalf of someone they love and wanting to be sure the people coming into that home can be trusted. And often it is a support coordinator, looking for a cleaning provider who will turn up consistently and communicate the right way.

All three of those conversations are welcome, and they all start the same way. We listen first. We ask about the home, what kind of help is needed, how often, and anything that matters about how visits should run. Some people like a chat while we work. Others prefer we get on with it quietly. Both are completely fine, and we will follow your lead.

A Quick Word About Plans

NDIS plans are managed in a few different ways. Some people manage their own funding, some work with a plan manager, and others have their plan managed for them. Each arrangement works a little differently, and what applies to you depends on how your own plan is set up.

We will be upfront about our limits here. We are cleaners, not plan advisers, and we will never pretend otherwise. For anything specific about your funding or what your plan covers, check your plan, talk to your support coordinator or plan manager, or give us a call and we will help you work out who to ask. What we can promise is that once cleaning support is arranged, the service itself will be simple, consistent and easy to deal with.

What Working With OSCC Looks Like

We are a family-owned Gold Coast company, founded by Gemma Post and Deon Wade and built on old-school service values. Every member of our team is professionally vetted, fully insured and chosen as much for attitude and care as for cleaning skill. When we support a participant, we keep the same familiar faces coming back visit after visit, because your home should never feel like a revolving door of strangers.

Communication stays clear the whole way through. You, your family or your support coordinator will always know when we are coming, and if anything ever needs to change we tell you early rather than leaving you guessing. Our pricing is quote-based, agreed clearly before we start, so there are no surprises. You can read more about NDIS cleaning support on our service page, or about who we are and why we started this company.

How to Get Started

Getting started is a phone call or a quote request, whichever suits you. Tell us a little about the home, the support needed and how often you would like us, and we will arrange a clear quote and a schedule that fits. If a support coordinator or family member is helping you arrange things, we are happy to work directly with them at every step.

From there, we do what we were built to do. Turn up when we say we will, do the job the right way, and treat your home and your routine with respect.

Questions We Hear Every Week

Can I use my NDIS plan for home cleaning?

Home cleaning is a common form of everyday household task support for NDIS participants. Whether and how it fits your situation depends on your individual plan, so check your plan, talk to your support coordinator or plan manager, or call us and we will help you work out the next step.

Will I have the same cleaner at every visit?

Yes, that is our standard. We keep the same familiar, professionally vetted team members coming back to your home so you always know who is walking through the door.

Can a family member or support coordinator arrange cleaning on my behalf?

Yes. Many of our first conversations are with a family member or support coordinator, and we are happy to work with them directly on scheduling, communication and quotes.

How is NDIS cleaning support priced?

We quote each home individually based on what it needs and how often you want us, and the price is agreed clearly before we start. We do not charge by the hour.

Which Gold Coast areas do you service for NDIS cleaning support?

We support participants across the southern Gold Coast, including Coolangatta, Tugun, Currumbin, Palm Beach, Burleigh Heads, Robina, Nerang and the surrounding hinterland.
